Garlic Cheddar Biscuits

About the recipe
Inspired by the famous biscuits from Red Lobster, these pillowy, cheesy biscuits are flavored with garlic and cayenne pepper that make them the perfect accompaniment to any meal. You can always roll them out and cut them into shapes, but it’s even easier to treat them more like drop biscuits, where they’ll be even more tender. We recommend using White Lily flour in this recipe.
Serves: Makes 12 biscuits
Hands On Time: 30 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes
Ingredients
2 cups self-rising flour
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 cup buttermilk
8 tablespoons (1 stick) melted unsalted butter, plus more for brushing
1 1/2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese
Instructions
Heat the oven to 450 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, garlic powder, salt and cayenne until combined.
In a small bowl, combine the buttermilk and melted butter. Pour the buttermilk mixture into the flour mixture and stir with a rubber spatula until a dough is formed. Gently fold in the grated cheese until combined.
Use a 1/4 cup measuring cup to drop the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving ample space between each biscuit. Bake until golden brown, 15 to 20 minutes. Immediately brush the biscuits with melted butter. Serve hot.
