Ain’t Wasting No More Time Cocktail: A drink to make when you need liquid relief

Ingredients
Peach and Green Cardamom Syrup
4 cups sugar
4 cups water
4 ripe peaches, pitted and diced
12 green cardamom pods, halved
Cocktail
1 3/4 ounces Buffalo Trace bourbon
3/4 ounce Peach and Green Cardamom syrup (above)
1/4 ounce fresh lemon juice
Ice cubes
2 dashes Chinese bitters
Lemon twist
Instructions
To make the peach and green cardamom syrup: Combine the sugar and water in a large pot and bring to a simmer over medium-high heat. Add the peaches and cardamom, return to a rapid simmer, and cook for 15 minutes. Remove from the heat and let steep for an additional 15 minutes. Strain into a storage container and let cool completely before using. (The syrup can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to one week.)
To make the cocktail: In a cocktail shaker, combine the bourbon, peach and green cardamom syrup and lemon juice. Fill with ice and shake vigorously until cold. Strain into a rocks glass filled with ice cubes. Top with the bitters and garnish with the lemon twist. Serve immediately.
