Why we love it icon

We're colorful characters here at Southern Kitchen, and we like our dinnerware to be, too! Pops of yellow, orange and red set a warm table, perfect for cozy meals in the winter and bright, fresh salads in the summer.

Family run since 1768, REVOL started with a union of two families that worked in pottery.  Pierre Revol and Magdelene Carrier married and launched a company built on a legacy of passed-down knowledge from master potters, merchants, traders and manufacturers. In 1800, the family opened a workshop in the southeastern France commune Saint-Uze.

The workshop became a factory, and the family began to specialize in making clay pottery from sturdy, resistant and hygienic materials. A reputation began to take hold of REVOL’s quality, and the company found increasing success by trading in national fairs until the 20th century, when a new, technology-based manufacturing process of jiggering and slip-casting was implemented. Even during World War II, the company reinvested and developed business in bistros, alcohol bottling and more, increasing production capacity and surviving the times.

New machinery was procured in 1980, and 8th generation family member Bertrand Passot invested in the education and training of employees to refine their process and improve the quality of REVOL pottery even more. The company began manufacturing porcelain exclusively, and went into international markets with culinary products, including a huge hit with a crumpled porcelain version of a plastic beverage cup.

Today, under the leadership of Bertrand Passot’s son Oliver, the company and brand are stronger than ever, reading 89 countries and five continents. With an intensified focus on research, development and innovation, the beautiful design and celebrated functionality of REVOL continues to find new fans around the world.
