Hand-Selected Recipes and Stories Straight to Your Inbox

About our contests
Southern Kitchen’s recipe contests exist to help our readers share their favorite recipes and to build our community of home cooks and culinary enthusiasts.

Each recipe contest is built around a single theme, such as holiday side dishes or Southern pies. After a recipe contest is announced, readers will have a full month to submit as many recipes as they like to the contest. All contest entries should be submitted on the website submission form or via email to editor@southernkitchen.com.

The Southern Kitchen team will personally review each of the submissions and choose at least three finalists to cook in the test kitchen. Our team will taste the dishes from the finalists and then crown a winning recipe, which will be announced on the website and on social media. The winner and the finalists will see their recipes published, complete with our in-house photography, on the website.  All first-place winners will also receive a hand-picked gift from our Shoppe.

  1. All recipe submissions must be your original work, and they must fall into our assigned categories. Recipes can be inspired by previously published recipes, but they must include both unique ingredients and instructions written in your own words.

  2. Readers can submit multiple recipes to the same contest, as long as the recipes are distinctly different.

  3. Readers can submit the same recipe to multiple contests, unless that recipe has won a previous contest.

  4. Prize selections will be made by the Southern Kitchen staff and are non-negotiable. (We promise you’ll love them!)

  5. Recipes submitted to Southern Kitchen are still your property, but by submitting a recipe, you grant us permission to both publish and share your recipe on our website, social media channels, email and other Cox Media Group properties. If we do publish and share your recipe, we will always give you credit. Any in-house photos taken by the Southern Kitchen staff, on the other hand, belong to Southern Kitchen and cannot be republished without due credit.
