According to the article, which lists three incorrect glass-holding ways that have become unfortunately common (they've even given these holds nicknames like "The Masterpiece Theater Hold"), straddling the goblet between your ring and middle fingers, so that the bowl is cupped in your hand, is a no-no. Not only does it put your vino in danger of warming quickly due to your body heat, but it leaves fingerprints on the glass.
