Exciting news from all of us at Southern Kitchen

We’re thrilled to announce that, as of July 2, we’ve been acquired by GateHouse Media, one of the largest publishers of locally-based media in the country. The site you know and love now has the energy and resources of a company that is excited to help make Southern Kitchen the best gosh darn place for everything Southern food, drink and entertaining.

Not much is going to change, at least for now. The core Southern Kitchen team is still here, cranking away on our day-to-day work of cooking, writing, eating and getting to know makers and chefs around the South. You’ll still be able to find some of the best kitchenware out there, which we’ll deliver to you as we always have, with plenty of love, care and attention.

As we continue to make the most of our new relationship with GateHouse, you may see us out there, offline, more. See, you may not know this, but GateHouse has a lot of experience throwing fabulous events, and they want to help us be a presence not only on your computer screens, but out in the real world, too. We’re also thrilled at the possibility of partnering with many of the hundreds of local papers, dozens of which are in the South, that are in the GateHouse family. And we’ll continue to bring you great stories and recipes from our contributors and celebrity chef friends like Virginia Willis and Anne Byrn.

Kate Williams is the former editor-in-chief of Southern Kitchen. She was also the on-air personality on our podcast, Sunday Supper. She's worked in food since 2009, including a two-year stint at America’s Test Kitchen. Kate has been a personal chef, recipe developer, the food editor at a hyperlocal news site in Berkeley and a freelance writer for publications such as Serious Eats, Anova Culinary, The Cook’s Cook and Berkeleyside. Kate is also an avid rock climber and occasionally dabbles in long-distance running. She makes a mean peach pie and likes her bourbon neat.
